Vivo V5 Plus is the bigger brother of Vivo V5. It is one of the clones of iPhone 7 and has very amazing camera results. Vivo V5 Plus is the ultimate selfie smartphone with a mid range processor. Let’s know more in Vivo V5 Plus Review.

Design and Build: Vivo V5 Plus

Vivo V5 Plus has the similar design as the iPhone 7 has. It has a fingerprint reader below the screen. There are few sensors, notification LED and a front flashlight above the screen. The finishing is quite impressive, and there is no doubt about it.  At the bottom, there is a Micro-USB port, headphone socket, and a speaker. It offers decent grip weighing in at 158 grams.

There is a 5.5-inch IPS display which is bright enough with nice touch sensitivity. There are no color correction options in the settings. However, there is a reading mode. The best thing is there is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

However inside the box 18W/10W adapter, data cable, headset, screen guard, case and SIM ejector tool. If we conclude, the build quality is good enough, but it lags somewhere in performance.

Vivo V5 Plus Review Specifications

The Vivo V5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64 GB onboard storage which is a decent combination. On the same part, Redmi Note 4 has the same specifications on the half price of V5 Plus. For connectivity, Vivo V5 Plus features Bluetooth 4.0, dual band Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS and OTG. Sadly there is no NFC connectivity. And yes, it supports 4G VoLTE on both slots.

The Vivo V5 Plus runs on company’s own modified Funtouch OS 3.0 which is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. You will get a bunch of important apps pre-installed such as WhatsApp etc. The base version is still the Marshmallow, and the skin is quite similar to iOS.

Vivo V5 Plus Performance Review

With a Snapdragon 625, the Vivo V5 Plus gives a pretty smooth experience, but that is a mid range processor in a flagship device. Multitasking is handled well with the software modifications. The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. It also scored 60,110 in AnTuTu with the 4K videos and gaming experience.

As the chip is capable of 4K video decoding and the other formats easily. There is a Smart Split mode which lets you use the texts and supported apps on the same screen. The Sound is pretty loud, but ultimately it is okay. The onboard DAC can be toggled on/off using a Hi-Fi icon in the media apps if you have wired earphones attached to the device. The ear pods you will get with the device are pretty similar to Apple ear pods, but they are just okay, you can’t use them for permanent.

The Vivo V5 plus has the perfect camera as it has a 20-mp with f/2.0 aperture and secondary 8-mp camera for depth. You can take decent bokeh images with the help of the secondary camera. You can adjust the aperture according to your focus choice. The 20-mp camera takes some wonderful pictures also there are Auto HDR, Face beauty and many more features in the selfie camera.

The rear camera is just okay; there is a 16-megapixel camera which captures decent landscape shots. We found there are minor issues with white shots. Overall It is decent camera phone If you are looking as per camera, then go ahead. 4K video recording is handled very well with the rear camera. Also, there are native Vivo camera features are present.

Might you be waiting for the battery part? Oh, there is a 3055mAh power juice for the Vivo V5 Plus which can live up for a day on a single charge. Also, there is a fast charging option which you can enable from settings. It goes to approx 50 percent in 30 minutes with fast charging.

Vivo V5 Plus Review Conclusion:

The V5 Plus is a great smartphone in the V series and among the Vivo smartphones. It is priced at Rs: 27,980 which is quite expensive. Now you can get it for approx 23000 INR on offline stores, but still, it is high. If you are getting the same for 17000 or 18000 then you should look for the device else there are so many options in the market like OnePlus 2, Redmi Note 4 and many. Overall the device is good if you look through the camera, design only but overall, you deserve better for your bucks.
