YouTube has introduced a new Smart Offline feature in India, which lets you schedule offline video downloads. The YouTube Smart allows you to take advantage of the reduced data rates offered by the telecom operators for late night hours. the Standard timings are considered as usually between 3 am to 5 am. The new functionality is gradually rolling out to Airtel and Telenor subscribers starting today, and will be available to other carriers in the coming weeks.

How to Use Youtube Smart Feature ?

As for this new YouTube Smart feature,
When you tap on the grey arrow to download a video for offline viewing, a prompt will appear, giving you the option to select the “Save overnight” function using the cheaper overnight data rates provided by your telecom operator.
Save the Video and you can watch that video offline later.
By Other option, the app will automatically schedule the video to be downloaded after peak hours that night.

The videos downloaded overnight will be available to watch on-the-go offline, without any buffering the next morning, said Google in their blog post. It’s worth mentioning that the Smart Offline feature will not work on Wi-Fi networks, and users will need to update the YouTube app to the latest version on their devices.
